What exactly is the app password meant to be? Is this the password I used to login? Or something else?

The app password is not the same of your login email address. It is a create from your email for the set up of swiftmailer, mailbox and email settings for sending emails.
For checking how to create app password in outlook you can follow the blog here.

I also get the following when I try and run the php command:
/var/www/uvdesk/config/packages$ sudo php bin/console c:c
Could not open input file: bin/console

This error showing because your project path is wrong. The project path should be only /var/www/uvdesk/ instead of this /var/www/uvdesk/config/packages:

When creating the swift mailer, as seen in attached image, there is a sender address and destination address.

In the sender and delivery address nothing much only sent and receive email. These option no need to fill any email. If you are not added in these option still you can send the mails on the customer end.

Does a swift mailer account need to be setup for every user account? or how does that work?

Swift Mailer is a used for sending e-mails. Swiftmailer setup is only one for multiple user you do not need to create different account.

Are apps free or require to be paid for open source? When checking "explore apps", its empty. Do you have to manually upload the apps in open source, or is it just flat out not free for open source? I tried the site with the extensions and theres only a pay option to install.

We are inform to you in opensource uvdesk free apps is not available. If you want using apps in opensource uvdesk so you will be purchased the apps module from webkul store.
You can check it here for opensource uvdesk apps modules.

Yes, in the development release v-1.2 this issue is solved now, but at this moment this release is not available officially. So you will wait for the next release.

You should be able to integrate with your Outlook modern auth option and also mailboxes using the new Microsoft Apps section available on the dashboard which will walk you through the steps to integrate with Microsoft platforms.

We are working on this update and also on working bug fixes to integrate with your Outlook modern auth option.

This feature will be added with our next release version V-2.0 update.

Hi i'm trying to setup the cronjob for grabbing emails but no matter what it always exits with an empty error while converting.

Once you check whether correctly saved your email settings option. Also, please share your screenshots of the swift mailer, mailbox, and email settings option.

Let us know, which version of uvdesk you are using.

Maybe if you cannot improve the fact uploading by FTP create files and folders permission issues, you can evaluate to show an error message if the installation wizard take too long with a link to a guide or instruction about what the issue can be and how to fix it... so user never need wait a support reply to figure out how to continue the installation 🙂

If you have created and installed successfully the uvdesk project.

The below URL is the default URL for admin/agent login if you have not made any changes for /member prefix.

If you are using on localhost:
localhost/your-project-folder-name/public/en/member/login

If you are using on server:
your-server-domain-name/your-project-folder-name/public/en/member/login

Also, We can customize this on the setup wizard as per says the previous reply.

Let us know, you have created this admin account using the web installer wizard or using the terminal command:

php bin/console uvdesk:configure-helpdesk

In windows, you will follow the same steps in your project root directory like:

C:\xampp\htdocs\your-project-folder-name

Now you can run these commands in your project root directory now run the below commands for updating the module:

$ composer require uvdesk/core-framework:dev-master $ composer require uvdesk/automation-bundle:dev-master

Now, clear the cache of the project using the below command:

$ php bin/console c:c

If you have still a problem with updating the modules then let us know.

I'm not part of the UVdesk staff but I'm just providing help here, you get a reply from a UVdesk staff member that suggested to share some file content by ticketing.

I cannot help more unfortunately and also if this topic still be flagged as unsolved I dont think you will get more help.

Solved or not is just a way to help understand topics with a staff reply or topic that still need the Staff attention.

Usually UVdesk staff reply to tickets but you may need have patience as the reply is not maybe so fast. Developers and staff can be busy.

Microsoft blocks IMAP Port for basic authentication. im sure the problem will rise again. to avoid this just enable MFA on your office 365 email and create an app password.

microsoft tends to do so to push all people to use the modern authentication method. ive been in your shoes.
