Solved Version Control
-
Is there any plan to create a fully working version 1 that has addressed all of the bugs and any new features being implemented in a beta or version 2?
With this running live with tickets in the database and how easily things are breaking or can become corrupt, I cannot be updating each package each time there is a new error caused by a new feature.

@Brandon-2021 actually the latest version released is 1.0.18 that for me doesn't work.
I still investigating with the relative team: UVdesk and my Control Panel team... but for now I never get a solution and seems there is no idea of what the issue I'm facing is and why I'm facing it.
https://github.com/uvdesk/community-skeleton/issues/495For me the issue exist in the latest version but for now I don't see any other user that are reporting the same but I'm sure an issue somewhere is because I run version 1.0.16 without issues... also if I miss some important functions like ticket email deletion but with email moved into the trash and duplicate ticket issue not yet resolved for some domains.
Consider there is no software perfect that has no bugs.
I migrated to UVdesk because another ticket system I was using was giving problems and now I'm facing some problems too with UVdesk. At the moment the working version for me is 1.0.16.
If you are facing some issue maybe you can discuss here and we can see if we can help. -
@peopleinside I am currently only running version 1.0.13 and have made workarounds for most of the bugs in that version, but the team is getting irritated with some of the bugs I cannot fix without rewriting the core packages. Updating the versions right now is just moving around bugs in the system as new features are getting added while bugs are being fixed.
This is why new features need to be pushed to version 2.0 and current bug fixes need to be made on version 1 until they are all worked out.
I like the direction UV-Desk is headed but if things continue as is we may end up switching to something else as end-users don't really care about the why's or processes involved in development.

1.0.13 and have made workarounds for most of the bugs in that version
this seems to be a quite old version. Are you sure what you call bug is really a bug?
I'm using version 1.0.16 and the basic functions works.I can understand you faced issue on upgrading so maybe is the reason why you are not using version 1.0.16?
Currently I have two strong issue for me in version 1.0.16:
- I know there is an issue that for some domain duplicate tickets can be created... in this way will be impossible use the ticket system. Currently I don't see a coming fix but I hope to be wrong and I hope UVdesk has understood where the issue is
- I cannot upgrade to the latest stable version 1.0.18 as generate server error that broke the help desk.
Another issue is that created ticket never delete email and if delete it is permanently.
I hope in a soon future UVdesk can simply move the email into the trash and also keep sent email in the sent folder. UVdesk is working on this but I don't know when and if this will be fixed. I understand UVdesk is an opensource software so need time as the team can be busy in other things that has commercial priority.Maybe issue that you are facing are not issue for all.
Maybe there are some issue that you even don't know.Usually most of the software can introduce new bugs after update, I know is not nice but this happen.
I like the direction UV-Desk is headed but if things continue as is we may end up switching to something else as end-users don't really care about the why's or processes involved in development.
Also if the scope to be here is to turn UVdesk even to be better and have more users that use it, you are free to use the Help Desk that you trust more.

@Brandon-2021 I have read your previous posts created from your profile. I saw that you are a programmer and that you have reported bugs that have solved problems such as downloading attachments.
Thanks, you helped improve UVdesk.
Actually UVdesk seems to be the best Help Desk Open Source solution that I found but it's not perfect.
I'm also stressed to be not able to upgrade to the latest version, to see a duplicate bugs that can turn the help desk into a unusable system, to have to delete all time emails manually because there is no option to move to trash but only permanent deletion.I think I need have patience as this is open source free software so I have nothing to pretend... just hope things will be get fixed. Maybe I imagine also for the UVdesk team is not easy to maintain a free Open Source version.
I like OsTicket but is not responsive, for have responsivity currently need to pay for unofficial edits and I don't like this.
I tested other help desk (free) but often are too basical or with some security issue I found. Is not easy to find a perfect software, anyway I hope things will improve in UVdesk, if not I will probably leave too.
If I will be still unable to upgrade I will move to something else because keep software update is a priority for me as can be security issue or strong improvements in new versions.I believe with some patience, I hope, things get better.
Some improvement in UVdesk has been already done.
