The Australian Government has released a report into workplace violence and has put forward the idea of workplace anger management. This is surely a good initiative as it indicates a desire to try and address some of the problems in the work environment. However, one could not help wondering just how far the government's research has actually gone in terms of establishing a meaningful program. The report says that there needs to be a concerted effort by the business community and government in Australia to deal with this problem in the way that it can be tackled most effectively. There also seems to be a very limited scope for implementing the recommendations made in this report.

It is true that many people get angry in the workplace but the report is careful to point out that anger does not have to get out of hand and should not be allowed to impact negatively on those around you. It should be controlled to the extent possible but there are other avenues for controlling this anger.
